Cherry Creek Fashion: Deb, you have been a stylist for many years. How did you get into the fashion industry and how are you styling clients for today’s environment?

Deb Davenport: I have had a love affair with fashion for as long as I can remember! My grandmother Emilia made the most exquisite dresses for me from the day I was born-you could say I was predisposed to be in this industry! My resume consists of working through most facets of the fashion industry. I have been a manager, merchandiser, and buyer while fortunate enough to work for companies from Gap to Gucci! Doing this I've met some amazing people along the way.

As far as how I'm styling my clientele - I have the same philosophy as before the pandemic hit "Wear what you love!" Clothing is an extension of our personality, what you wear can evoke a mood and when you are wearing something you love, you radiate!

CCF: What are your favorite trends for Spring? What will you be wearing on heavy rotation?

DD: Color, patterns, and mixed media! I am all over customization - that's my jam! As far as heavy rotation goes, my "workhorses" will be my periwinkle and bright green square-toe padded mules. They are easy game-changers for everything from slip dresses to boyfriend jeans.  I love a great boyfriend jean. I always say "Jack ‘em up with a heel" and that a great blazer elevates any look.

CCF: Let’s talk Weddings! A lot of weddings are getting smaller and more casual. What should guests wear to less formal weddings?

DD: As a guest at a wedding no matter how small the ceremony is remember that it is a celebration. It is a natural reaction to want to dress up for an occasion, to honor and show respect to the couple. To dress up for a wedding is part of a tradition, I love that!  As far as what one should wear, I believe that is up to the individual. It could be a dress or suit but should showcase your best attributes and also bear in mind the type of ceremony you are attending. The bride should always be the center of attention but it's ok to have fun in something fabulous.

CCF: You’ve picked 3 looks for the shoot for 3 different types of weddings. Talk us through each look and why they are perfect for these weddings.

 LOOK 1: BEACH WEDDINGS

Dress: Halston, Hat: Hatattack, Shoes: Frame

When choosing an outfit for the beach you want a breathable fabric. Linen is a great choice - it's crisp and clean! Choose either a flat or a sturdy block heel.  Stilettos aren't for the beach. Remember a great hat for when the sunset is in your eyes during the ceremony.

LOOK 2: MOUNTAIN WEDDINGS

Dress: Ralph Lauren, Boots: Shoto, Belt: Model’s Own, Hat: Janessa Leone (Model’s Own)

This madras plaid halter dress just exudes mountain wedding to me. After all, Ralph Lauren is known for his Western wear and this dress is part of his Spring '21 Polo collection. The length is perfect when pairing with boots which are an essential in the mountains! Accessorize for this type of event with a denim jacket draped over your shoulders (it gets cold at night in the Rockies) and a killer cowboy-hat if it's a daytime ceremony.

LOOK 3: CHURCH WEDDINGS

Dress: Samantha Sung, Facinator: Victoria Regina, Shoes: Sam Edelman

Dress: Samantha Sung, Facinator: Victoria Regina, Shoes: Sam Edelman

My absolute favorite!! For this look, I was channeling my girl Carrie Bradshaw. Making sure to be Church appropriate, yet stylish and true to my fun side. The dress is a handmade creation from Samantha Sung, formerly the Senior Designer of Ralph Lauren who started her own company. She designed the unforgettable dresses Blake Lively wore in "A Simple Favor". Want some unexpected glam? Snag a fascinator from the Mavens of Millinery - they're traditional and glamorous.
