MODEL & STYLIST: DANETTE STUCKEY // LOCATION: CAROLANN WACHTER ART STUDIO
This month at Cherry Creek Fashion, we continue to look at local designers making a significant impact and head north to Boulder to meet them. We turned to these four unique women that pour their hearts and souls not only into what they make but have woven themselves into the greater creative community. As holiday shopping ramps up, we want to support those in our community that create pieces to cherish forever. Danette Stuckey comes back to model for her second Holiday issue, this time styling for the shoot as well. It is a joy to work with these incredible designers; they all create and make their pieces here in Colorado! We shot at the incredible studio of artist and designer Carolann Wachter in North Boulder.
THE DESIGNERS: CAROLANN WACHTER FINE CLOTHING + ART OBJECT
Carolann Wachter is an artist with many mediums. Always open to inspiration in any form, she is a fashion designer as well as a fine artist. Carolann studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has drawn from her painting and sculpture background to create her clothing and accessories line. Using her eye for craftsmanship, classic forms, technique, and material, she creates artwork and clothing with an elegant and expressive look that is singularly her own. We were so inspired by her studio for the shoot, as the space she has created is often a salon of sorts for the greater creative community to gather and share inspiration and ideas. www.carolannwachter.com // @carolannwachterclothing
THE DESIGNERS: ANNA FERRY OF CHARLIE AND ME DESIGNS
In Australia, Anna Ferry grew up among a very creative family that included some talented women who taught and nurtured her passion for sewing and all things design. Her love for fabrics, design, and bringing the two together has been the driving force behind her collection, Charlie and Me. No process speaks to this combination of passions more than her current collection of dyed, patchworked signature jackets. Anna hand-dyes her fabrics using real indigo and cutch. Truly like wearing a hug, her beautiful jackets have become signature pieces for locals as each one is unique and shows her creative process beautifully. Anna works out of a studio in her home where she is able to experiment and create her one of a kind pieces. www.charlieandmedesigns.com // @charlieandmedesigns
THE DESIGNERS: ALEXA ALLEN DESIGNS
Alexa Allen is an artist, designer, and craftswoman. Originally trained in woodworking at CCA in San Francisco, upon returning to Boulder expanded her skillset to work with leather goods. Alexa is known for her wide range of talent, her signature hand-drawn leather bowls, handbags, leather cuffs, and more recently, her move into custom furniture and soft home goods. Her style is what she calls “quietly edgy,”; working through the tension of traditional leather goods but infusing it with qualities that have a softer, unexpected look. Alexa created the gorgeous, buttery Danette bag for this shoot, which speaks to her work with clients for private commissions and her ability to find inspiration in any situation. www.alexaallenis.com // @alexaallenis
THE DESIGNERS: AVERY LEE DESIGN
Avery Lee Oatman, the founder of Avery Lee Jewelry Design, is a lover of design, the natural world, organic forms, and how things feel. Her interest in jewelry design was born out of a particularly hard time in Avery’s life. She found that the new experience of metalsmithing became “therapy” for her, the process helping to focus her creative energy in a new and unexpected way. Avery Lee Designs highlight the simplicity of contemporary shapes, semi-precious stones, and earthy colors. Made with sustainable and responsibly sourced materials, Avery’s designs evoke a sense of timelessness, often becoming a talisman for the wearers. Avery’s pieces' signature elements are metal fringe that allows for joyful movement in metal and earthy semi-precious stones that reveal a connection to the natural landscapes of the west and southwest. www.averyleedesign.com // @averyleedesign
